It seems to be a universal problem that all dogs have to deal with... first line of defense is barking and chasing of course. This is only effective in getting them up a tree though and unfortunately, I haven't figured out how to climb a tree yet. Have you?
I did read about a new method to control the ground squirrel version of the evil varmints just this morning... check this out: www.ivypaws.blogspot.com
yes, I feel like chasing squirrels is best left to the poodles and airedales in our neighborhood -- they are taller and can reach higher into the trees. Personally I'm more of a lover than a hunter (especially now that evil kitty seems to be gone).

Good luck!
thank you Tank! will check it, Momma would love to taste her grapes this year...
Chica seems oblivious to the squirrels and the rabbits. I think she's missing the hunter gene...
