Tina Fey you were an absolute stand out in a perfection kind of way, so, keep it up Tina, you are elegant perfection.
The other stand out, for very different reasons needs to be discussed. Why? Because it was an exercise in tacky. This is a mistake that can never be repeated.
No, not JLO's bubble wrap overdone fabric spewing hip dress... Yes I do know something about fashion. If it looks foreign to the dress, it is not avant guard, it is forced, it is not fashion. But I would like to chew up some of those bubbles.
Back to the cardinal sin dress...
Vera, you let us down. I charge Vera Wang with the attempted murder of fashion. Charlize, you were an accessory to said attempt. Petals, foliage, cinnamon buns, whatever that was, placed were it was, on an otherwise uninspired dress. UGH. Actually I would have preferred nothing added to that dress. What was the thinking there? Who hid the mirror?
I don't like paintings adorned with foliage on the bits and pieces. Seeing that carried into fashion sent shivers down my spine. Should we expect doggie couture to sport whole bouquets? Brrrr. I am going on the record here. Momma as much as I love you, any attempt to dress me like that will result in my moving back to White Cottage. I am sorry, but I am drawing the line.
That dress was NOT
such stuff as dreams are made on...all that "adornment" on Charlize was more like ...
that which we call a rose was not... or if you prefer, much ado about nothing.

Ahh, another classic! What did you think of the hot purple ostrich mess?
I didn't watch the Oscars, but I saw that dress on Charlize, 'vie; and I would have to agree with you. What in the world was she thinking?
