WE NEED YOUR HELP!!! FOUNDDDDDDDD

UPDATE  FOUND! SAFE AND SOUND

WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!
One of our Rescue Dogs is Missing!
BisheeLate yesterday afternoon, one of our rescue dogs ran away from the Unleashed by Petco in the Hunter Woods Shopping Center in Reston Virginia.

She was last seen by a neighbor Friday afternoon at Hunter Woods Elementary School (2401 Colts Neck Road, Reston Virginia) running in the woods. We need as many volunteers to help us look for her as possible.

She had surgery this week and was spayed- and we are very worried that she will get an infection, so time is of the essence!

She is very scared and skittish- if she is seen, it is best to give us a call at 703-401-9551.

We also need help putting up flyers- if anyone could hand some out at the Reston Farmer's Market tomorrow (Saturday morning) at Lake Anne, that would be very helpful.

Please contact Sandy for a copy of the flyer.
Thank you in advance for your help- if you live around Reston, please forward this to any neighborhood mailing lists or groups, or forward to your friends or neighbors.

We are very worried about her health! So any effort would be appreciated!
Sincerely,

Sandy Morris

What’s the buzz (cut)?

“Doriana got her summer trim this morning and thinks she deserves cookies for being good and cute! (This is the same Doriana from the Finding Dori pic I sent earlier this year – just without all the hair)” -Teresa
Hey Dowiii, someone stole your name. Now you know what it feels like.Rolling my eyes. ... momma stole my name... I think this Dori is very cute. Maybe you should write to her and invite her to come and spend a weekend with us. Us. Not you alone. After all, you do want her to know you have your very own family. (I don't want anyone laying claim to my Dori! She can be really lovable...except when she talks diet...) And it's so strange that this Dori shares even your middle name! But Dori, you are the only one who counts to me. Xoxoxo 'Vie

Go Peanut!

Wordless Wednesday: "the Phumph"

"Phumph" is the low grown whine, moan that tells the hoomans that you are out of patience and unhappy.
This is Wordless Wednesday not necessarily SILENT Wednesday.

So... here it goes. JD "phumphs" when his meal is even two seconds late.  Late is a subjective call. You understand that.  If the kitchen smells good, then his meal must be LATE. PHUMPH!

I phumph when I feel ignored. Really, I am overflowing with cuteness.  I out-Disney Disney and you dare to walk by me without so much as a coo, kiss, belly rub??? PHUMPH!

The Wendy. ANY stranger anywhere near the house is enough to cause Ms Wendy to PHUMPH!  Who cares if they happen to be doing yard work for momma. They need to be gone! PHUMPH!

What makes you PHUMPH!?

How to travel to Knott's Island

 First you find a lap.
A very good, comfy lap.
Then you get a belly rub and you nosh on a cracker.

Then you borrow a neck pillow and momma's hat.  You put the neck pillow under your head on momma's lap and the hat covers your face from the sun.  Make sure the a/c vent hits you on a slant.  You want cool not frozen. Then you nap. And you wake up all fresh and wunnerful.

By the way, are there knots in Knot's Island?

Media:
Jason Taylor
(513) 622-1111
Natura Pet Products Dog Food Recall

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - June 18, 2013 - Natura Pet Products is voluntarily recalling specific lots of dry pet food because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

Salmonella can affect animals eating the products and there is risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the products or any surfaces exposed to these products.
Healthy people infected with Salmonella should monitor themselves for some or all of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. Rarely, Salmonella can result in more serious ailments, including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms. Consumers exhibiting these signs after having contact with this product should contact their healthcare providers.
Pets with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some pets will have only decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals or humans. If your pet has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian.
These products were packaged in a single production facility. During routine FDA testing, a single lot tested positive for the presence of Salmonella. There have been no reports of pet or human illness associated with this product. In an abundance of caution, Natura is voluntarily recalling all products with expiration dates prior to June 10, 2014.
The affected products are sold in bags through veterinary clinics, select pet specialty retailers, and online in the United States and Canada. No canned wet food is affected by this announcement.

From the Orange County Register Natura Pet Products Class Action Settlement Of Innova, EVO, California Natural, HealthWise, Mother Nature & Karma Dog or Cat Food Product Class Action Lawsuit

Natura pet food buyers can claim $200

Lawsuit settlement entitles people who bought the pet food between 2005 and 2011 to make a claim

FROM REGISTER STAFF REPORTS
A federal court judge has preliminarily approved a $2.15 million settlement to a class action lawsuit against Natura Pet Products that alleges the manufacturer misrepresented the quality of its pet food.
Natura has admitted no wrongdoing in the case but considers a settlement desirable because it "will bring to an end the expense and burdens associated with continued litigation," according to court documents. Natura officials could not be immediately reached for comment.
Article Tab: include-healthwise-cat-pr
Class-action members include all U.S. residents who purchased any Natura product between March 20, 2005, and July 8, 2011. These products include Innova, Evo, California Natural, Healthwise, Mother Nature and Karma dog and cat food.
The lawsuit, filed in March 2009, alleges Natura's website and labeling contain "a large number of misleading and false statements relating primarily to assertions concerning the human-grade quality of its food." The plaintiff alleged that these statements included such claims as "We only use ingredients you'd eat yourself," "All of our human grade dog and cat foods are carefully cooked and tested..." and "Natura's products use only human grade ingredients."
As part of the settlement, which U.S. District Judge Jeremy Fogel preliminarily approved earlier this month, Natura would stop promoting its pet food products as human grade, human quality or as something that "you would eat yourself."
Natura also would establish a $2.15 million settlement fund. The settlement fund will be used to make payments to class members, as well as cover attorneys' fees, costs and expenses.
Class members include all U.S. residents who purchased any Natura product between March 20, 2005, and July 8, 2011. These products include Innova, Evo, California Natural, Healthwise, Mother Nature and Karma dog and cat food.
Members may be eligible for a payment of up to $200. To be eligible for a payment, class members must submit a claim form, available at PetProductsSettlement.com, by Jan. 8, 2012.
A final fairness hearing is set for Feb. 17, 2012, at the District Court for the Northern District of California. At that time, the court will determine whether to grant final approval of the settlement.

Natura Pet Products Class Action Settlement Of Innova, EVO, California Natural, HealthWise, Mother Nature & Karma Dog or Cat Food Product Class Action Lawsuit

JULY 15, 2011
If you purchased Innova, EVO, California Natural, HealthWise, Mother Nature, or Karma dog or cat food products, you could get a payment from a class action settlement.
A federal judge has entered an order for preliminary approval of a class action settlement of a class action lawsuit against Natura Pet Products, Inc. (“Natura Pet Products” or “Natura” or “Defendant”) in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California (captioned Judy Ko v. Natura Pet Prodcuts, Inc., Civil Action Case No. C 09-02619 JF), alleging, among other things, that Natura violated California’s Business and Professions Code when advertising their dog and cat food products and allegedly made false and misleading statements about the human grade quality of its food in its advertisements, promotional materials and labeling.
For purposes of the Natura Pet Products settlement, Judge Fogel certified a class of persons defined as follows:
All persons residing in the United States who purchased any Natura Product for personal, family, or household purposes (the “Class”) during the time period from March 20, 2005 to July 8, 2011 (the “Class Period”).
All Innova, EVO, California Natural, HealthWise, Mother Nature, and Karma dog and cat food products are reportedly included in the Natura Pet Products settlement.
A $2,150,000 settlement fund will be reportedly created by Natura under the class action settlement.  The settlement fund will be used to make payments to settlement Class Members, as well as cover attorneys’ fees, costs and expenses, a payment to the Class Representative and the costs associated with administering the settlement.  Natura will also reportedly stop promoting its pet food products as human grade, human quality, or as something that you would eat yourself.  To get a payment (of up to $200), settlement class members must submit a claim form by January 8, 2012.
The Court will hold a Fairness Hearing at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, February 17, 2012, at the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, 280 S. 1st Street, San Jose, California 95113 to consider whether the Natura Pet Products settlement is fair, reasonable, and adequate.

    Tricked out APPLES --Tasty Tuesday!

    Tricked out apple treats

You have to allow the little woman, aka da mamma to amuse herself.
She has a new toy. Big box that hums.  She calls it a DEHYDRATOR I call it a delish maker.
It  has been smelling up the place with all sorts of new treats. Some are hits, Some are misses. [I am NEVAH evah going to eat squash chips. ick. But the turkey jerky and the lamb jerky, Oh my woof... 2die4]

But you have to hand it to the old gal, sometimes momma is clever.

Apple chips?  Boooring, right? But it is what she did to the apple slices that make these apple chips addictively delicious.

As KS, [kitchen supervisor] it is my job to observe and as KS I am hereby reporting.

So, she sliced a bunch of apples, red one. She used the robot coupe because she is toy obsessed, by you can use a knife or a food processor.  She said the slices have to be "even"  I guess that means you have to cut 6, 8, 10, but not 11 or 13? No?  Ahh it just means they all have to be the same size. Ok... But that makes no sense to me. Apples are round, not squares. They can't all be the same size. Ohhhh Same thickness, Got it.  JD speaks hooman better than I do.

Once the apples were sliced, the magic happened. Momma took out some lamb stock and she soaked the apples in it. {We have to use lamb because JD is seriously "lergic to death" to chicken- you can use chicken or beef stock} She left them "soaking for about a half hour. Then she drained them and placed them in the dehydrator. [http://www.silvieon4.com/2013/03/tasty-tuesday-lamb-aspic.html this is how she made the stock]

Ok, so I might have been a wee bit obsessed with the smell because I parked my tushy under that humming thing until I got a taste. Deeeeelishhh.
They are tricked out apples. I am down with this!

Go try it. And send me some for inspection.  I am still the KS and and JD is a QCI [quality control inspector],  and you need to send some to Wendy too, she is not chopped liver you know! So send us some.

    The Wendy

I can't remember what that yummy thing it's called. But it is seriously yummy. It's on the tip of my tongue.
Ohhhh I need to remember what it's called so we can ask for it.  It is on the tip of my tongue.  Mhhh I would like it to be into my whole mouth!

It's white and cold and delicious and we get it in small cubes and it tastes like some kind of fruit something.

Help me think. It is so on the tip of my tongue!

On a hot day it's to die for.

[it's frozen yogurt with bits of fruit].

    Don't tell her.

We just love looking at her pink tongue.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - June 12, 2013 - SECAUCUS, N.J., /PRNewswire/ - The Hartz Mountain Corporation, located in Secaucus, N.J. is voluntarily recalling one specific lot of Wardley Betta Fish Food 1.2 oz. size due to concerns that one or more containers within the lot may have been potentially contaminated with Salmonella. Hartz is fully cooperating with the US Food and Drug Administration in this voluntary recall.
Salmonella is a bacterial organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in people, particularly young children, frail or elderly people, and those with weakened immune systems. Salmonella can affect animals eating the product and there is risk to humans from handling contaminated products, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the product or any surfaces exposed to these products. Some healthy individuals infected with Salmonella may experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe or chronic illness.
The product was shipped nationwide from May 13, 2013 through June 4, 2013. In total, 8,112 1.2-oz. plastic containers of Wardley Betta Fish Food, UPC number 0-43324-01648, isolated to the lot code PP06331 (located on the bottom), which were packaged by Hartz at its Pleasant Plain, Ohio facility from a single production run, were shipped. Routine sample testing conducted by Hartz as part of its quality control procedures detected the presence of Salmonella in the lot specified. Hartz is aggressively investigating the source of the problem.
Although Hartz has not received any reports of illness to date in animals or humans as a result of coming into contact with this product, Hartz is taking immediate steps to remove the product from all retail stores and distribution centers. Fish owners who have purchased this product should check the lot code on their containers. If the code is not visible, or if the container has the following lot code PP06331 imprinted on it, they should immediately discontinue use of the product and discard in the trash.
Consumers can contact Hartz Consumer Affairs at 1-800-275-1414 (24 hours/day 7 days/week) with any questions they may have and to obtain reimbursement for purchased product.
