The joys of a ride

Napping on momma's lap

Looking at cars and things and dogs in cars!

Smelling things that daddy gets

Falling asleep while listening to music and while getting a belly rub and a ride...
That's a triple pleasure.
Quad if you count being held by momma.

Can we go for a ride today?

It's raining...on BLACK AND WHITE SUNDAY

It's pouring.
It would be soooo boring, BUT

It's Sunday and OUT
we are going.

A ride is a must
in daddy we trust.

No time to rhyme
being late is a crime

Got to get momma along
or leave her behind-- soooo long

Ciao, bye bye, ta ta, adios
we are gone.

Sisters ha?

Well folks, that sister been messing with my MISTER! Here is the blurry evidence! The nerve.

It's all daddy's fault. He gave the Wendy a bath. [She got schmutzy or something, whatever.] The bath fluffed her out and made her smell different . Like I am ever going to say that she smelled good, or better than me... like never... Anyhow... she turned into Ms McFluffy...[for an older woman she quite fluffy....]

There is only one rule in this house. If anyone is going to flirt with JD it has to be me.

Not the Wendy.

ME!

Do you have any idea how hard I had to work to get JD back?  I mean he is a male. His resistance to a fluffy helicopter tail is ... nil. But you have to offer the helicopter tail!  And that is work. Work I did not need to engage in this early in  the day.  Thanks Wendy...

Got him back! Away from Ms McFluffy. Now I can go back to ignoring him.

And Wendy Pooh, sisters before misters.

Dear Santa

They assure me you are into chocolate chip cookies. Personally I don't see the lure, but hey, whatever floats your boat...

So, come to my house.  We have a whole batch of these for you.

Daddy is having a conniption as momma will not allow him to be taste taster.  Nuff said.

Love,

'vie

Ps I have been super good for like two hours....

From the Daily Mail: Dogs Recognize owners from a picture or video, but...

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2527040/Dogs-recognise-owners-PHOTOS-Creatures-pick-familiar-faces-prefer-looking-canines.html

Well DUH, of course! How else would I skype with my two leggeds?

And, yea, if I were just looking at videos or "stuff" I would probably pick four leggeds as we speak the same language and all and... I am curious about other four leggeds.

Shut up JD. I do not go to chat rooms  I am more into the sharing of knowledge.  I am more the blogging type.

This is how we stole momma's heart

The three of us... know how to do it:

It's all in the eyes and the attitude.
We plan on keep stealing her heart, and soul, and mind, and body and anything else we can get away with.
This is OUR resolution for 2014, so far.

Sleepy head - Momma's lap is a sleep inducer

Ok I admit it. It is hard to keep up with my hoomans. There is a lot of running around and a lot of activity.
When they finally stop and sit I take full advantage of the opportunity afforded me... I rest.

Fine, you want honesty?

Here is brutal honesty.

I jump at the opportunity to fulfill my destiny and take center stage on momma's lap.

Move over everyone else. JD, The Wendy... Daddy, get out of my way. MY momma, MY lap, My nap!

What do you mean "piggy behavior"?  She is my momma, it is my lap, and... I am sleepy. And can I point out to you that I take the lead every second of the day to be with her, to follow her, to monitor her [momma's note... she is stalker] and I pose for her and I taste stuff for her [momma's note...she leaves me no choice]. I even consult on her fashion choices, her grooming and her telephone calls. I mean every second of every day and night. So, MY Lap. Get it?  I earned it.

I try to stay awake. But as momma fluffs me out... I sort of lose my battle with awake...

There is a melting process that takes over... I "melt".

Then my mind sort of shuts off and even though, my eyes are open I am actually asleep...

And if momma sings nora misnora...[eritrean lullaby]... I am like "peace out" man...

Momma's lap is a sleep aid. It should be marketed in a bottle.

Maybe I can get the woman to snuggle me now? Do you have a sleep inducer?

Where is the Festivus isle????

A tisket, a tasket a Bichon filled basket...[hum this]

ON A MISSION!

Where, pray tell, is the FESTIVUS isle????

Is that it?

Nahhhh.... We have looked everywhere.  We can't find a Festivus isle. So, How can we celebrate Festivus for The Rest of Us? Store, I am so disappointed  in you....How can we let the airing of the grievances begin without proper Festivus decorations?

I was looking forward to getting a pole.  Hey what's Festivus food?  Maybe this trip  is not a total loss.

You need to follow me

Don't ask questions.
Just follow me quietly.
It will be worth your while.
I swear.
Come on, what are you waiting for?

I happen to know where momma put the bags from Hanukkah Harry.

I am not joking, and one of those bags smells wonderful.

Are you in or out?

Boys! There are always lagging behind.

In the middle of the night...

Some hooman -herein un named- has no business watching a movie she can't handle emotionally

I think the common sense rule is obvious... you change the channel if you feel you need to hide behind your beautiful, innocent, incredibly fluffy, sleepy Bichon.

I could not leave her on the couch, by herself, like she deserved.  I slowly inched off to the side.

And I tried to get my beauty sleep. If I am ugly today, don't blame me.
It is ALL HER FAULT.

And for the record... there are NO ZOMBIES.

'vie
who will be napping today. For sure, no doubt.
PSSSSSSSS. This is poor sleep hygiene. Daddy is right. Nuff said.

All the shopping...

and all the wrapping...
and all the cooking and tasting and smelling...

and all the hustle and bustle

and I am tired.  I am going to nap in between places. So hold me.

Sleep has to happen.

Oh we forgot! to share our holiday card this year.

Forgive us, it came all at once and all....

'vie

Shopping with the daddy.

I got my red holiday coat on. Hoomans seem to love it. I like the "diamond" on the bow.

Do you notice that JD and I do all the work?  The Wendy is just laying back. She rather look at the daddy and play up to him.

Where is momma??????
We always lose momma!

FDA Takes Significant Steps to Address Antimicrobial Resistance
Agency implementing plan to ensure judicious use of antibiotics in food animals

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today is implementing a plan to help phase out the use of medically important antimicrobials in food animals for food production purposes, such as to enhance growth or improve feed efficiency. The plan would also phase in veterinary oversight of the remaining appropriate therapeutic uses of such drugs.

Certain antimicrobials have historically been used in the feed or drinking water of cattle, poultry, hogs, and other food animals for production purposes such as using less food to gain weight. Some of these antimicrobials are important drugs used to treat human infection, prompting concerns about the contribution of this practice to increasing the ability of bacteria and other microbes to resist the effects of a drug. Once antimicrobial resistance occurs, a drug may no longer be as effective in treating various illnesses or infections.

Because antimicrobial drug use in both humans and animals can contribute to the development of antimicrobial resistance, it is important to use these drugs only when medically necessary. The plan announced today focuses on those antimicrobial drugs that are considered medically important (i.e., are important for treating human infection) and which are approved for use in feed and water of food animals.

In a final guidance issued today, the FDA lays out a road map for animal pharmaceutical companies to voluntarily revise the FDA-approved use conditions on the labels of these products to remove production indications. The plan also calls for changing the current over-the-counter (OTC) status to bring the remaining appropriate therapeutic uses under veterinary oversight. Once a manufacturer voluntarily makes these changes, its medically important antimicrobial drugs can no longer be used for production purposes, and their use to treat, control, or prevent disease in animals will require veterinary oversight.

The FDA is asking animal pharmaceutical companies to notify the agency of their intent to sign on to the strategy within the next three months. These companies would then have a three-year transition process.

“Implementing this strategy is an important step forward in addressing antimicrobial resistance. The FDA is leveraging the cooperation of the pharmaceutical industry to voluntarily make these changes because we believe this approach is the fastest way to achieve our goal,” said FDA Deputy Commissioner for Foods and Veterinary Medicine Michael Taylor. “Based on our outreach, we have every reason to believe that animal pharmaceutical companies will support us in this effort.”

In order to help phase in veterinary oversight of those drugs covered by the guidance that are intended for medically appropriate uses in feed, the FDA also has issued a proposed rule to update the existing regulations relating to Veterinary Feed Directive (VFD) drugs. The use of VFD drugs requires specific authorization by a licensed veterinarian using a process outlined in the agency’s VFD regulations. The VFD proposed rule is intended to update the existing VFD process and facilitate expanded veterinary oversight by clarifying and increasing the flexibility of the administrative requirements for the distribution and use of VFD drugs. Such updates to the VFD process will assist in the transition of OTC products to their new VFD status.

“This action promotes the judicious use of important antimicrobials to protect public health while ensuring that sick and at-risk animals receive the therapy they need,” said Bernadette Dunham, DVM, Ph.D., director of the FDA’s Center for Veterinary Medicine. “We realize that these steps represent changes for veterinarians and animal producers, and we have been working -- and will continue to work -- to make this transition as seamless as possible.”

The guidance for animal pharmaceutical companies is now in final form, and the proposed VFD rule is open for public comment for 90 days starting on Dec. 12, 2013. To electronically submit comments on the proposed VFD rule, go to www.regulations.gov and insert docket FDA-2010-N-0155. Send written comments to the Division of Dockets Management, Food and Drug Administration, Room 1061, 5630 Fishers Lane, Rockville, MD 20852.

Hey Dowiii, now you don't have to go to THERE!

And you can see it over and over and over.

And you cab come here instead!

'vie

Let's go, I am ready!

I am, according to momma, a high maintenance dog. I like going out. I mean going for a ride, going shopping, getting cooed at and generally creating a traffic jam by my mere presence.

I put up with momma's schedule and shenanigans up to a point.  I mean the woman has all these habits I am just not into. She into cleaning up and doing stuff that frankly has no meaning to me. I put up with all that.
But when I see her putting on earrings, I expect to go out. No ifs,  ands or buts. [BTW  I have the cutest butt in the universe-that's the truth- ask momma! ]

So, in an attempt to speed up the getting ready to go places process, I got ready on my own.
See?

It is cold out there, my new fur is neat and will keep you warm. I put in on by myself by tunneling inside it. I really love the smooth pink lining and the way it feels. Momma the puparazza had to take a pic. No matter, I am going out!  I am happy!

Now get yourself presentable, momma's face does not come from "a" jar, it comes from a whole drawer.
Nuff said.

Do you like going out?

What? Are you kidding me? Existential crisis!

The down side of being a blogging four legged is my loss of innocence. This week stories like these have sent me into a full existential crisis.

http://www.nature.com/news/simulations-back-up-theory-that-universe-is-a-hologram-1.14328
If this is true, why can't I have ALL the chewies I want? All of them now, all at once?  You can calibrate a hologram to make me appear thinner, right?  So what's the point? Gimme all the Chewies now, or gimme a reason.

http://www.nature.com/news/why-lizards-may-inherit-the-earth-1.14355
And then this story! Listen up people, I need something more uplifting and what ever happened to "holiday cheers" anyway?

This from Rocky, our reporter at large:

Only a patient four legged can calm the savages we call hoomans... Did you know that many law schools have a dog on loan to soothe the law students during exam week? They get to "check out" a dog like a library book for about a hour and they get to de-stress...

If you ask me, we, dogs are the most under appreciated species.

We work better, faster and more predictably than any pharma compound. Get rid of the bottles and the pills and empty the shelters. {Shelter--- that word just makes me want to scream- How is a place where dogs are killed ever come to be known as a "shelter"?????}

Every mall should have staff dogs, every hospital, airport,  stadium, etc etc. Where lots of hoomans congregate, a staff dog or two should be present. It's logical.

I have a job here with my family, but there are many competent four leggeds that would love the opportunity to earn their keep.

Think about it America. Lead by example.

Thank you Rocky for your excellent contribution.

The only good part about this icky weather is

That I finally get to wear my black fur swing coat!  I loooooove the pink lining, don't you?
I want momma to get it monogrammed for me and have an inside pocket put in.

Why are you looking at me like that?

Don't you DARE judge me.

I mean it.

Stop it!

It is FAUX and we all know that means it killed nothing except momma's dignity when she bought it!

Stop looking at me like that! I am a serious as a heart attack. I think you are just jealous because I ROCK this look!

I think the word you are looking for is PANACHE, I wear it with PANACHE and style.

Live with it. Where is my fur hat momma??????
