Agenda for the upcoming CAPE CHARLES Tomato Festival!

Saturday September 25 & Sunday, September 26

7 a.m. to 5 p.m. - German Shepherd Dog Club of Eastern VA will hold an American Kennel Club (AKC) Variable Surface Tracking Seminar throughout Cape Charles daily with Vincent Ramirez, AKC Tracking Judge and three-time Champion Tracker. Working dog teams registration cost is $175, cost for auditors is $100. Pre-registration required. The public is welcome to watch as we track throughout the town. 8 a.m. to ?? – Trash to Treasures Sidewalk Sale (next to Sullivan’s and Bay Creek Communications, 100 block of Mason Avenue).

9 a.m. Parade Line-Up at Bay Creek Marina Villages East (entrance across from Cape Charles Museum on Stone Road - Rt. 184)

10 a.m. Parade down Mason Avenue

10:10 a.m. ...Presentation of Colors by U.S. C.G., Station Cape Charles and National Anthem by Hannah DeMarino (near Mason Avenue & Strawberry Street intersection)

10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Car Show Registration ($12 day of, $10 in advance)

Post parade to 2 p.m. Kids Event Central, a carnival-like set of games and activities for kids – in parking lot across from Watson’s Hardware Store

Post parade - Book signings by local authors

Post parade - Pony rides and a mini-petting zoo for kids

Post parade - Horse & Carriage one-mile ride along Bay Avenue ($5 per person, starts and ends next to War Memorial, across from Bank of America & Bayside Café)

1 p.m. Announce Parade Trophy Winners

1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Car Show judging by registered entrants

2 p.m. Car Show judging forms turned in (dash plaques presented to 1st 50 registrants when form submitted)

3 p.m. Mason Avenue ArtWalk Awards Presentation

3 p.m. Car Show Awards Presentation

In addition, the Tidewater Bichon Frise Rescue will host a 'Meet the Bichon’ day, next to the Cape Charles Coffee House. These dogs are friendly little balls of fluff looking for a forever home. Call Judi McCoy for more information at 331-1772.

The National Greyhound Adoption Program will also be in attendance, with information about their programs and adoptions. Call Lee Peirson at 331-2622 for more information.
