Yes, we named them. Yes, they are special. Yes, they are a party in your mouth and a party for your eyes.
Down to business, as they say.
At my house, Mr JD cannot ever have chicken anything. He is completely intolerant of chicken. And to be honest... it sort of messes with my belly as well. So we are big on organic turkey liver.
We have discovered some tricks of the trade to make wonderful liver based snack. One important trick is that too much of a good thing, will hurt, so liver should always be portioned out and mixed with something else.
For the liveraces, you will need:
2 cups of cooked [just place in the oven at 325 for about 15 minutes] minced turkey livers. [I also like gizzards for texture and you can add some here]
1 cup of grated zucchini [grate, salt lightly and let drain. Got to get rid of the excess water, don't worry the salt will drain away too- it will shrink down to about 1/2 cup after draining]
1/2 cup of shredded carrots
1/4 cup of cooked chopped cauliflower
2 egg whites
3 TBSP of plain cooked oatmeal [yes... lazy, you can use an instant oatmeal envelope, just make sure it is plain oatmeal]
Now, you want to mix everything together. If it is too dry you can add yogurt, or another egg white. If it is too wet, add more oatmeal. You really want the texture of a raw meatball.
Now use your medium cookie scoop to shape the livearces and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment. Once they are all neatly layed out [ I Like the rows...I can count them faster then]. spray lightly with olive oil and flash bake in a 350 degree oven for about 10-12 minutes.
Let cool before service and stop torturing your dog, give it up! At least one per dog... IMMEDIATELY.
Koly, I am trying here... if your momma follows directions you should be getting liveraces at this point....
Voila` ! Liveraces!
