I got lots of grief for my last post. JD actually called me a fame seeking starlet wannabe. He called me Paris all day. UGH. How unfair. How unjust. But hey, once I got his and The Wendy's release,[ I made them sign a release to post the pics...] I agreed to go ahead and post their pictures. Of course, rescue is a family affair.
Nobody sits at home eating chewies. We all brave the wind and endure the clothes and the crowds. We all are the face of Tidewater Bichon Frise Rescue.
JD and I are more eager to spread the message, as you can see.
BUT, The Wendy does contribute. She overcomes her fears and actually works it! We are so proud of her. [She was terrified of strangers and fearful of women, not so long ago] You know what's really shocking to us? It's two leggeds who are
shocked that we are rescues. DUH!! If I had a chewie for every shocked face I would be set for life. What do they think a rescue is????? One two legged actually said that she could not imagine a dog that looked like me could ever be a rescue. Oh? Really? I have no words. I can't image that kind of thinking. Shaking my head. I have papers, I have lineage. The only reason I was in rescue was greed. I was about to be sold to a commercial breeder... a puppy mill. Rescue does not impune the dog. I did nothing wrong. 99.99% of the dogs in rescue did NOTHING WRONG. Like me, most dogs end up in rescue through no fault of their own. We are not defective, we are not second class, we are not remnants. Look at us. Face reality. Change your thinking. Every dog in rescue deserves love, care and a family.
Anyway that is our message. We carry that message every single time we are out. We are proud to be who we are.

Hattie Mae here...I hear ya girl! I guess even Rescues are stereotyped. I, being a rescue, can attest that! I don't get it, why people seem to have an adversion if you will, to rescue dogs. We run the gammet as to color, breeding and personality. But we all have one thing in common, LOVE Honey! And lots of it!
I personally think that some people cannot afford a RESCUE on any level...intellectually, emotionally, etc. And in my case... I chose my family. I had to lobby hard. They had two dogs... and you are right, to borrow Anais Ning...LIFE SHRINKS OR EXPANDS IN PROPORTION TO ONE'S COURAGE. Some folks live itty bitty lives because they lack the courage to love.
I have to admit that I'm not a rescue. Not too many bichon rescues locally and mama waited over two years to find me and had to do some major life style changes to get me. But mama and I try to support rescue as much as we can. I do think you guys are TOTALLY styling though! Not sure I'd want to do the coat thing myself, but all three of you are looking good!
