They are nervous at first. But at the same time, don't be afraid to establish boundaries. This is your golden moment to set the tone for your master-staff relationship.
I don't want to brag, but I had my 2 leggeds trained to pick me up and carry me everywhere. And it worked well for a while. Yes aunt Robin , I am looking at you, spoilsport. Aunt Robin made them put me down. But I digress... I have done a great job with them. I am firm, but loving.
Demanding, but I lavish them with attention and remember, the rule of thumb must be:
No empty lap allowed and no idle hands. Take over the lap, offer up a belly and get petted. It helps them bond to you.
Mhh, I am so glad you now have a last name. Hey do you know of anyone who deserves Piper?
