....Feather boa and drama...

Rough summer. Too much. Too hot. Yesterday afternoon I went to Micheal's to find a white feather boa. Mine is hot pink. They were completely out. The woman said they had a run on feather boas starting quite early, just about at opening time. Apparently a bunch of women showed up looked for feather boas and crowns. Imagine that, they raided the bridal department. So, I dragged momma to AC Moore. Same story. Then one of the clerks asked if I was not interested in an oscillating fan. For a second I was flattered...[how does she know I have fans?? She must have seen the hit count on the blog? my fans are diehards, but as far as I know they sit still...] than I understood what she was asking. Strange question in this kind of store...
Sitting in the car with the AC blowing at max and still poaching in my own sweat, I contemplated where to go next to get a white feather boa. Honestly, the pink leaves streaks in my beautiful white curls. Not cool.

So I pulled out the i-pad so I could GURGLE white feather boas and locate a dealer. After a bit of frustration I decided to check my FB account. And there, buried in the notifications, was the explanation for the sudden feather boa scarcity.

Amantine! Of course! Amantine Aurore Dupin, who else could launch a national trend like this! Feather Boas, crowns and oscillating fans. I am shocked she did not throw in bicycle pumps just for an extra hoot. So, all over America there are women wearing feather boas, tiaras, and positioning themselves across from oscillating fans and AC, leaving behind empty yoga mats, quiet cappuccino machines, etc etc. and all because " I am wearing a feather boa & tiara-cuz I"m dramatic like that".
And there I sat in my car, staring at Gurgle and now understanding the futility of my quest. "Will you settle for a dollar store boa, until we find a feather white boa for you?  Asked momma.
I shook my head no. I am 'lergic" to cheap things. They give me the itches. I need the real stuff.

Amantine, you could have given me a heads up.  And here is the saddest truth. I can't fault her.
You know why I want a white feather boa???? Because... I'm dramatic like that."

so 'vie, mama wants to know if you want maribou or some other kind of feathers? the boa craze has not hit the west coast yet -- probably because here in Cali -- people seem to be focused on something called Carmagedon -- I think it's something that's happening down in LA where my big sister Kim lives now.

Carmagedon? Ohhh sounds ominous. Maribou would be great. It is all Amantine's doing. Draping herself like she did in a feather boa and tiara over the AC unit... who would not want to do that in 100+ degree temps?? Tell Kim she can come here and stay with us until Carmagedon is ova....

This is mama's explanation of Carmagedon:

CalTrans (the people who manage the freeways and bridges here in Cali) have to take down a piece of freeway over the Sepulveda Pass. This is "The 405" which is the busiest freeway in the country. It is also the ONLY way to get from one part of Los Angeles to this other part of Los Angeles. The ENTIRE part of the freeway through the pass is going to be closed this weekend, so people in LA can't get from point A to point B. There is also no fallback if they don't get the work finished on time. People in LA are being told to prepare for the worst and maybe plan on not getting to work on Monday. Therefore, Carmegedon.

Mama says it won't bother us as we don't live there, but all the news stations are covering it as if it is the end of the world as we know it. Hmmmph! I personally say, find a shady, quiet spot and just nap your way through it.

I will send the mama to find you a boa.

We aren't having hot weather here. In fact it is quite cool -- only the upper 60's and in the 50's at night. Something about a big marine layer -- I don't know what that is, but it is really cloudy and damp in the mornings and the sun doesn't come out until almost lunchtime.

Stop that, stop that, stop that ...

You are being entirely too cute.

I want to cuddle you.

You don't need a white feather boa.

You are dressed to the max in white fluff and so dreamy just as you are!

Honey go, I would cuddle back, just so you know.and Kol...has you momma been following Amantine on FB?? Let me quote..." OMD, the things one misses when entertaining the pups with my musical homage to Euripedes, score by John Philip Sousa, choreography by Martha Graham. I am humbled to be mentioned in your blog and chagrined by the Boa/Tiara shortage. I guess I better not mention my tutu..."
know what I was doing while Amantine's fluffs were getting high quality home made theater..????
Sniff. They get theater...we get clams... This is what I answered we get: "get out of the clam shells"...hey, but we got to watch the incredibly fascinating review of available clams from cherrystone to littlenecks (where is the neck?? It must be tiny) ...regionality...I have two tutus and I now have a new Japonaise fan... Absinthe candy dahhhrling? (I have licked everything in the house to get that taste out of my mouth...)

Rocky, did they let the guy with the pointy hat make the schedule for this freeway reno? I supposed the idea of securing a viable temp route before they demolished the old one was out of the conceivable universe... We had something like this on a smaller scale [some would argue same]We are a group of islands, peninsulas and land connected by bridges and tunnels. Well, when the downtown flooded because nobody had done full maintenance checks and the gates got stuck... it took a week for life to return to normal.
And if you are like momma... you avoid tunnels like they are zombie land. She hates them. Ever hear of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel? Wonder of the new world , blah blah. She likes coming out of it, she just hates going into it. And then we have the bridges that open up to allow marine traffic. JD loves watching those. I mean seriously loves watching them. We have a zillion of them. They are interesting the first or second time... I guess. Some swing open sideways, some go up in the air, then you see the road becomes a giant wall... But why JD feels such interest????? Must be in the XY cause the Wendy and I just get annoyed at having to wait. We have one near home it goes up on the hour and you see all the boats line up, boats, ships, whatever...
It is my hope that your big sis makes plans to stay elsewhere, until this whole thing is done.
