One more thought

I was thinking... you know, about UMKA's case. Yes I know... I need to stop thinking so much. BUT. The article indicates that the attorney must prove that UMKA has a soul to establish pain and suffering. This is a New York case. I am confused. The concept of soul is a religious concept. How is it that it is a measure of "humanity" and of the ability to feel pain and suffering? Last time I checked New York was still part of the United States, right?  Well we have this thing called "separation of church and state", right? OK, So tell me how is it that under New York law a "soul" must be established to proceed on damages for pain and suffering??? How can New York use a religious concept as a measure of "humanity" in a legal setting?
Where is the separation between church and state? Mh???.
So....in NY... [pause, clear your throat, look down, curl lower lip... speak ]if a two legged says that the do not believe in the concept of soul...  do they automatically stop being human?  Do they stop feeling pain?

Sometimes, I can't even believe the stooooooooopidity I read about. I am only five, and while most of my days are spent fluffing up my tail, getting my belly rubbed, and making sure that my momma is kept busy, I am smarter than that!

Hooomans are NOT the only ones who can feel pain, joy, love, sadness... etc etc.  Feeling is NOT exclusively hooman. [Of course I know how to spell it correctly, I chose not to. Deal with it. It is MY blog after all.]

And... to the lady who sent me a bible quote which she said it supports man's superiority over animals as "mandated by God".... This was the quote she sent me:

"Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”"
Genesis 1:26 ESV
{I am not livestock, I am not a fish and I don't creep...just so you know}
let me reply:

Genesis
1:21, 1:24
The term "nefesh chaya," a "living being" or a "living soul," is applied to animals as well as to people.

Proverbs
12:10
A person cannot be considered righteous unless he or she treats animals with compassion

and if you need more "learning" about how God and animals go here:`~~~>LEARN!

Deep breath. I can't think of any possible way that the likes of say.... Vick would or could ever be considered superior to any animal....

OK, I am done with the morning rant.  I am going to go demand my 'pucino foam before the momma snarfs it all gone. Ohhh I better get out of this mind set. it makes my sweet self feel sour.

Mommaaaaaaa, I need holding, rubbing, kissing and foam.... brush me, my hair is a mess, snuggle me.
