Ask and you shall receive!

In a prior post, I said : " Hm. daddy said momma wore a dog bow tie. Of course there is not one single picture of that.  I am offering  two slightly used chewies to anyone with said picture... Don't be afraid of her, she is small and I  will deal with her... You can stay anonymous."

Well well, Virginia, [Uncle Bob I am keeping you anonymous....wink wink] Here is that illusive picture of momma in a dog collar.  Little fuzzy, but I must say well worth two slightly used chewies.
Fiona and Marie, chewies coming your way!  Well earned may I say. What?  Of course the girls are going to get them before Kip and Toby. That is how it works. GIRLS FIRST.

I will tell momma she needs to pay up and produce the chewies owed. ;)

Next time momma goes on and on about how she is "THE human in charge..."
That pic is coming out. A hooman?
No hooooman wears a dog collar bowtie. Right?  Therefore she is not in charge.
 nuff said.

Now I shall set about making the most out of this.
Momma, you rock the bow tie collar.
What next?  Gonna try and grow a tail???

Like I did not know she always wanted to be a Bichon.

Yuh, the Australian sun hat and the black onesie.  That's momma.

I know, I know, but it is her weirdness that makes her endearing. AHA, now let's talk about this great bridge I have that happens to be for sale.

We call it the Gilmerton. Wanna buy it?
[local joke. it's been undergoing repairs for ever and one day....]

Bark in the Park Wrap up.

So, Bark in Park was BUSY BUSY BUSY. We have to thank our TBFR family because they worked their tushies off to raise dirty paper for the White dog Cottage residents. Yup, it takes a ton od dirty paper to pay for food, vet bills, meds etc etc.

You can see that our TBFR booth was packed with goodies.  Hm. daddy said momma wore a dog bow tie. Of course there is not one single picture of that.  I am offering  two slightly used chewies to anyone with said picture... Don't be afraid of her, she is small and I  will deal with her... You can stay anonymous.

Ok, lets get down to the highs and the lows of the event. [I feel so Giuliana today! Gimme a mike]

Let's get the lows out of the way because I need recovery time.

The scoundrel, lower than low award goes to the lady whose beautiful girl Bichon is kept outdoors tied to the garage to [brace yourself] "kill rats". She referred to this sweet dog as a "ratter". Once her words actually sank in momma's brain... and once she got over the shock words came out of her mouth ... like LEPTOSPIROSIS... Are you joking? You mean to tell me you actually are serious?  --- she was serious.
Momma offered to take the Bichon off her hands,,,, But  nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnno. No can do. Her Bichon is cheaper than an exterminator. Lord please watch over that sweet dog. May the scoundrel get what she deserves.  Auntie Robin thank you for being careful and screening our adopters. That person should never be allowed to have a dog.

Deep breath.  That was the human [??? really???] low.

Sammy, one of our Bichons from Richmond got very sick. The heat got to him.- 88 degrees in the shade!!!
He collapsed. It was very very scary. His mom, auntie Lisa was so worried.  Some misguided soul  dunked Sammy in water to cool him off and Sammy's heart was racing. Well, once they brought him back to the TBFR booth, momma told auntie Lisa that Dr Redding was at Bark in the Park and off they went to find him because as momma put it "I would not trust anyone else to treat any of our dogs".
Got to hand it to momma. She knew what she was talking about. Within seconds, Dr Redding was tending to Sammy and out came the magic acupuncture needles and voila` Sammy was all better. I mean instantly. I mean for real. I mean like WOW.

So, first and foremost THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU DR REDDING!!!
YOU ARE OUR HERO of
BARK IN THE PARK

THANK YOU HICKORY VETERINARY HOSPITAL!

Ya, know what kills me? Auntie Lisa. Ungrateful woman tried to talk Dr Redding into moving to Richmond.
Seriously! Not cool.  NOT COOL.  I share my vet you and you try to steal him? NOT COOL.
I almost want to say no biscotti for you!

And Dr. K we missed you.  You are hiding from us?

More highs:
Meeting some of the best people on earth in our rescue family.
Spending time with great friends on a sunny, warm VA day.
Sharing food and laughs.
Raising money for the best cause: the rescue, rehoming and rehabilitation of Bichons in need. [like me! like I was before I got my forever family.]

Depending on how you see it.... another high/low.... Momma cheated on us and rubbed up against many many four leggeds. Really Brutus, et tu?????

Thank you to Yesterdish, the cupcakes and food were a hit.  Thank you daddy for carting all that stuff,
and more than anything, Thank you volunteers for working so hard and making it a good event,  THANK YOU EVERYONE who came out in support of TBFR.

Bark in the park

Setting up on a perfect VA day.  Come on down y'all.

A note from momma on the circovirus [??] issue

We have been obsessing about this since early Sept.  I have been pestering the CDC looking for more info. I really did not want to be an alarmist and I wanted solid information...

We have none to date. We have no idea how this virus is transmitted, and the real novel question is if it is something humans are passing on to the dogs.

In absence of solid information, CAUTION is the only rational approach

So, for the time being I am tying yellow ribbons on my dogs. I will politely ask strangers NOT to pet them. I will not trust strangers because I have no idea how clean their hands are.

Walks are restricted to place we feel comfortable in. If one of your dogs has developed bloody diarrhea SEEK IMMEDIATE VETERINARY HELP . Back home,  would follow contagion protocol-- Spaulding Protocol  and wipe, wash, and clear stuff.

Here are some guidelines.

please be AWARE circovirus??? maybe

On sept 13, 2013 ABC news reported the follwing story:

Mysterious Illness Killing Ohio Dogs Email91Smaller FontTextLarger Text|Print By Sydney Lupkin @slupkin Follow on Twitter Sep 13, 2013 1:12pm

Four dogs have died from a mysterious illness in Ohio, prompting state agriculture officials to issue a warning. “Affected dogs have exhibited similar symptoms including vomiting, bloody diarrhea, weight loss and lethargy,” the Ohio Department of Agriculture said in the warning. “Although there are several known causes of these symptoms in dogs, it is generally believed that there is an unknown contributor to the cases.” Read about the hero dog who saved a boy from his abusive babysitter. Three dogs that stayed at the same kennel in Cincinnati got sick and died about a month ago, Ohio Department of Agriculture spokeswoman Erica Hawkins told ABCnews.com. Another dog died of a similar illness two weeks ago in Akron, and a veterinarian there said she treated other dogs with the same symptoms who survived. Although it looks like two clusters of the same illness, labs have not yet been able to confirm what killed the dogs or whether it was the same in both clusters, Hawkins said. Fecal samples taken from one of the dogs contained canine circovirus, a newly identified virus about which very little is known. A spokesman for the Ohio Department of Agriculture told ABCNews.com that only one lab in the country studies the virus, and it is in San Diego. Canine circovirus can cause hemorrhaging and inflammation of the blood vessels but may not have been the cause of death, according to the department’s statement. Concerned pet owners and veterinarians have called the department over the past several weeks. “We want to share good information with owners who are concerned about their animals,” she said. “But it’s hard to do that when we don’t have a lot of answers.” Hawkins said no new cases have been identified in the last two weeks.

"Symptoms can include lack of appetite, lethargy, abdominal pain, vomiting and bloody diarrhea. Dogs displaying these symptoms should be rushed to a vet, especially if someone they’ve been in close contact with is also under the weather. Immediate treatment by a vet is required to save these dog's lives.

Untreated, dogs die within 24/36 hours.

Six dogs have died in Michigan

It appears that the virus is being passed from humans to DOGS. WASH your hands, If you are having  flu like symptoms, wash your hands, do not cross contaminate. IF YOUR PET SHOWS ANY SYMPTOMS, GIVEN THE DEADLY SEVERITY OF THIS DISEASE RUSH THEM TO A VET!

WE ARE READY for BARK IN THE PARK, ARE YOU?????

Yessirybob! ??? [What does that even mean??? Who is that dude???] NEVERMIND.

Here comes the BIG announcement.
Deep Breath.

WE ARE READY FOR BARK IN THE PARK!

Sweet talked Adam into getting YESTERDISH to sponsor some baked good to sell at Bark in the Park.
After all YESTERDISH  rescues... lost recipes and Tidewater Bichon Frise Rescue rescues BICHONs and the way I see it, RESCUE IS RESCUE!!! And Adam loves me. And I was rescued by Tidewater Bichon Frise Rescue,  so it all MAKES SENSE. Well actually I hope it will make CENTS- Hmm No DOLLARS DOLLARS DOLLARS.... 'cause we need them to support the residents at White Dog Cottage.

Anyway... you will love this... This is what I talked them into doing...

Cupcakes... YES! the YESTERDISH famous cupcakes loaded with YESTERDISH's  frosting. Thank you Dowi for developing that recipe, IT IS TO DIE FOR.

The baked YESTERDISH mini donuts, all cimmony [it is too a word!] and sugary....I kind of love these.
Shhhhh auntie Robin, don't look at this.

The infamouns  YESTERDISH ONION POPPY SEED ROLLS- [I would not touch these on the count that onions and dogs do not mix---but the hooomans rave about them.  Next life I  will try them, assuming I come back as Dakota Fanning or someone like that]

YESTERDISH 's Challah is also all ready for tomorrow...
As are the punkin Biscotti and of course the OLD fashioned raisin oatmeal cookies. {Momma we need to talk.... raisins??? WHY??? YOU know we can't eat those~!  Like tradition means anything to me!}

Soooooo look and figure out what you want and show up early because we are going to apply the FCFS rule, first come first serve.... rule.

You know momma is NOT getting any younger and I can't make her bake any more than this without breaking her... and this close to THANKSCHANNUKAHGIVING [same day this year!]  I can't risk it. The family would kill me.

OHHHH they are also giving out the recipe cards for these things, in case you are in a baking mood.

Well I have to go lick something now, soooo

THANK YOU YESTERDISH

See yo all tomorrow!  I have to go sit with the old gal while she recovers... it is my job you know...
