Two Leggeds' Turf Wars

What goes on at your house? It's a valid question.  Read on.

I was reading Koly's blog this morning as I do every morning, and today's topic struck me as awfully familiar.

It is a scene that plays out in my house, in a different setting, but ... same plot.  Turf wars. And when you are a Jet, you are a Jet...

There is no easy way to do this.  I have to do it like you peel a band aid.... Quick and with intent.

I love my daddy. I love him from the bottom of my toes to the tip of my tail. What's not to love? He does things for me, for us that make us feel special. And apparently, momma is not on board with that.

The recurring "discourse" [I love that word... it makes it sound so civil... so palatable...] has to do with daddy feeding us. Nahhh I am not talking about preparing our food.  OCD poster girl barely allows him to do that when she is sick.  I am talking hand feeding us.   Allright, you still have problems visualizing this?

The Wendy, JD and I  like to sit next to daddy and quietly wait our turn as he hand feeds us each delectable bite. From his hand to our mouth. JD, then Wendy , then me... then JD, then Wendy... then me...until each bowl is empty.  It elevates our food from mere food to a bonding experience. LOVE IT! You have not lived until you have been hand fed. But, momma gets all bent out of shape with this. You know, she could just get in on the action and sit between The Wendy and me. I am even willing to give her my spot in line. But noooooo.... she has to roll her eyes and verbally attack that "sainted man".

Daddy loves us. He likes babying us. it makes him feel good to do it. Why does it make momma crazy? Yea... we think so too.  The old green eye monster... jealousy.

She whines that we are all adults and that she is not about to start hand feeding anyone who is not on their death bed.  What a sucky attitude!

And there are things I am not privy to discuss, things that go on when momma is out of the house. You know, special things.  Let's just say, daddy is not as OCD about what gets buried in the pillows on the bed. He is not as hung up on measuring what goes into our bowls. He is more liberal with treats. [More as in he actually gives them out! Momma is stingy]  And he does this special thing, we love that momma just thinks it's nuts.  Daddy shaves our lamb slices very thinly like what you would find a gyro. Nooooo, he has never made himself a gyro with OUR lamb.... what would even make you think that???  BTW, we are just about out of Greek Yogurt momma..

And, yes, daddy has access to the raspberry sorbet. He does share.

Oh and at the height of any "discourse" momma pulls out the BIG GUN... you know... the "I am calling Robin!". Apparently that escalation indicates that momma is pulling rank. There is no more discourse.  All that is left if for us to do is to walk daddy upstairs and snuggle him to death and provide him with refuge from the tyranny of ... the momma.  We do that happily.  He is OUR daddy and we love him to pieces.

Effective consumerism PRACTICE IT NOW

Effective Consumerism

Is not a passive art. What am I talking about? You know what I am talking about.  I have been posting warnings on China originating  treats and their deadly effects for years!  Just do a search on this blog and see for yourself. And I am not alone. Yet... they are still being sold and they are still killing dogs and cats.

The most common question I get asked is "WHY ARE THEY STILL SELLING THEM?"

Mhhh, there are lots of complicated legal answers. Contracts, Corporate greed... The FDA hides behinds the regulations.  Basically, they are helpless to do anything other than issue warnings because they DON'T KNOW what in the treats is causing the deaths. Never mind... the links are well established by mountains of evidence.

BUT, dear consumer, let me give you my doggie insight....

1.They would NOT be selling them if YOU were NOT buying them!

2. Assuming that you have come out from under your rock recently, and have just learned about this homicidal debacle stop feeding your pets any products that have ingredients originating in China! I don't care what the corporate line is... THEY ARE NOT SAFE in any quantity! Look at the evidence.

3. DO RETURN THE BAG OF TREATS TO THE STORE THAT SOLD IT TO YOU and DO LET THEM KNOW WHY YOU ARE DOING IT. DEMAND A REFUND! Do take the time to tell them how angry you are and that you will no longer shop there because you can't trust them.

4. No receipt? Mail it back to the manufacturer and demand a full refund!.  It should be their financial loss, NOT YOURS. Yes, add the cost of gas, the cost of mailing it to them and whatever other expense you have incurred.

5.? WHY?  I know, your inclination is to hide your embarrassment by just quietly throwing away the stupid bag and hoping Mrs. Dog Food Police does not find out you were sooooo stuuuuupid. BUT.  If you do that, you are taking the financial hit and the manufacturer is getting richer and you are giving them incentive to keep on POISONING....  Congrats, you are now their accomplice by tacit consent.  Feel good about that?

If the manufacturer, the store, and everyone down the chain  was getting deluged with their toxic crap, coming back at them, how long do you think it would be before they located their "conscience" and pulled it off the shelves?  Let me give you a lesson in corporate anatomy.  Their "hearing mechanism is located in their wallet".  Yea, I know.  Odd place.  And their "conscience: is wholly artificial. Again, it is located in their wallet.  It's a plug in that crashes regularly and is wholly unsupported except for when triggered by a red ink bottom line.

Uffa.... I am so mad. There goes wordless Wednesday!.

Arthur Dogswell LLC Voluntarily Recalls Catswell Brand Vitakitty Chicken Breast
With Flaxseed And Vitamins Because Of Possible Health Risk

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - July 27, 2012 - Arthur Dogswell LLC, Los Angeles, CA 90025, is voluntarily recalling 1051 cartons packed as either 10 or 50 packages per case of Catswell Brand VitaKitty Chicken Breast with Flaxseed and Vitamins because it has the potential to contain propylene glycol. High levels of propylene glycol in the treats could result in serious injury to cats. The adverse health impacts could be reducing red blood cell survival time (anemia) and making the cells more susceptible to oxidative damage.
No illnesses have been reported to date.

The VitaKitty treats were distributed nationwide via retail stores and mail order from April 13th through June 14th, 2012.
This product is packaged in a re-sealable 2 ounce orange plastic bag with a clear window. The VitaKitty Chicken Breast with Flaxseed and Vitamins lot codes affected are as follows: SEW12CH032701/03c and SEW12CH032702/03c with a best before date of 09/10/13 and 09/11/13, respectively (UPC code 8 84244 00057 2). Lot codes can be found on the bottom right backside of the package.

“We are taking this voluntary action because it is in the best interests of our customers and their feline companions,” says Marco Giannini, CEO and Founder. “We will be working with the FDA in our continued commitment to ensure that we meet FDA guidelines.”

The recall resulted from a routine surveillance sample collected by the Company and the Food and Drug Administration. Arthur Dogswell has ceased distribution of the affected product.

Consumers who have purchased VitaKitty Chicken Breast with Flaxseed and Vitamins from the affected lot codes are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. If the affected product was purchased online, consumers should contact the internet retailer to understand their specific return and refund process. Consumers with questions may contact Arthur Dogswell at 1-888-559-8833 from 8AM to 5PM PST, Monday through Friday, or leave a message at any time.
