Thank you Uncle Bob

Dear Uncle Bob,

Thank you so much for hosting the  2014 TBFR Spring Fling. We really all had a great time. You are a fab host and we loved your home and meeting THE Miss Paula in person. She is very very nice.

Yea, I know... I did not leave momma's lap too many times, but you know I have to keep her in check. Ok, while I admit I might have some issues, may I point out that most Bichons were on their pawrent's laps?

Loved seeing all the pics on FB, did you happen to notice that both my hoomans brought camera bags that were left unopened? Talk about lazy. I am just not going to say anymore about that. [I am kind of grateful that they were not puparazzing all over the place]

Now, I do have to tell you that I remembered The  Great Machinpongo Clam Shack! I miss the old location because it had "charm" , but now there is room to move around. In case you feel like taking a ride out here tonight momma is making paella, 'cause... she kind of bought a bunch of goodies and when she looked at everything she bought, PAELLA screamed back. [must have been a silent scream because I heard nothing... momma hears voices... not gonna comment... ehmmm.] Come on by. You can share dinner.

Kip was very sweet, we had a few moments, and while JD was all over the place sniffing up and socializing, I have to say, that my Wendy actually was very cool.  Usually she runs around barking up a storm, but I think she was too busy flirting... to do that. So we all had a great time.

I borrowed a couple of pics from your FB post, hope you don't mind.

Thank you so much, 'vie

If you thought this was funny, momma, THINK AGAIN!

lemmy ketchup you- Tasty Tuesday

TastyTuesdayBadge

Boy. I have not posted in like forever. But in my defense I have been busy, Yea, busy.  My Adam was home. I had to occupy his arms 24/7. I literally outsnuggled him. Turns out hoomans have snuggle limits, like 4/5 days tops!

MY Dowy was home . [YES MAX, MY Dowi] The little interloper seems to think she belongs to him. And she does.  But his claim is subordinate to mine. His would be a junior lien.  Look it up. I am NOT being jealous.  I am being factual.

So, lemmy ketchup you. We had a lovely strange holiday. Good food, good company, good times. The Dowi adopted Max and now he is her full time roommate in DC.  He is a Bichon, from TBFR, so obviously he is lovable and according to Dowi, smart, sassy, and crazy about toys. Ho hum.  I have done the DC scene, I am no country bumpkin. I was riding elevators and doing the Old Town scene before Max understood peed pads. Just saying.

But , for those of you who are interested, Max is having a grand time.  He has discovered that living in an apartment complex comes with many many petters and play mates. It comes with a park, a balcony, access to doggy friendly restaurants and what appears to be... an unlimited supply of stuffies. [Max loves stuffies. He tried to abscond with some of my old stuffies. As if.  Boundaries boy, boundaries.]

I am not bittah. I am sweet as they come.  Ask my Adam. And why should I be jealous?  I have THE momma. All that comes with her. Smiling.  Max loved momma and her fridge, and her range and her goodies. Nuff said. And Dowi is a food guard. [I am not calling her that to her face. you know... food nazi...no, not to her face]

But let's talk about the rest of the stuff that is going on.
Spring Fling -- Sunday, April 27, 12 noon, at Uncle Bob's house!

I am looking forward to spending time with Kip. I have asked JD to entertain Fiona. She can be protective of Kip and frankly he does not need protecting from me.

Let's talk about my new bed. Yea, I got one of those. Just because I am cute. It is super plush and soft and I think it will be great in the winter.  It is too warm for spring and summer. What do you mean, I claimed it? Exqueeze me. A dog bed is brought into my home.  It is a fair assumption it is meant for a dog, which I happen to be. So I test it out and roll my scent all over it. I claimed it. Who else would it be intended for? MAX?  Seriously?  He has 2 other beds that I know of! I only have like 8... This is a bigger house! I have to have more beds. in case I get tired in different places.

This is now a Max free post. I so declare it. NUFF!

It is tasty Tuesday.
Let's talk:...Green beans. A great snack for EVERYONE, even two leggeds.

Yes the green long things. Boil them and I will not go near them. BUT momma does not boil them.
She snips the ends, and tosses them in a frying pan with sea salt and a few drops of sesame oil. The goal is to "toast them up" and keep them firm, but cooked, Daddy gets garlic in his, but momma is lergic to garlic, so ours is garlic free. But I do like a pinch of white pepper. She likes a pich of truffle salt.  To each his own.

Just keep on hand...a great little snack, for very few calories. [Got to watch my figure- too much competition around here]

BTW, uncle Phil, I blame YOU. You started with Cooper cat.... and now Max... Eh. In the end...
I think I really inspired all this. I am THAT lovable.

Sepia Saturday MAX B has a forever home!

http://www.silvieon4.com/2014/04/and-then-i-became-aunt-dance-of-joy-time.html

Yes, Uncle Jack, I am going HOMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

Thank you,

MAX B.

And THEN.... I became an AUNT! DANCE of joy time!

So, there has been lots of talking at my house.  Mostly the talking took place between the Dowi and the momma, and auntie Robin. Apparently the Dowi had decided that she needs a roommate. I thought about visiting her, but I am not moving to DC.  I have to be with my Wendy and my JD and my momma. Much as I love her, my responsibilities are here and my days are full.

So.... after many hours of talking [Hoomans talk and talk and talk ...] and much blah blah blah...the Dowi decided that she should look for her roommate at White Dog Cottage.

I will not bore you with the minutia. [It's my new word of the week, I love it.] But Auntie Robin and the Dowi decided that she should meet MAX. Well you can see how Max felt about a bunch of semi. strangers just coming to White Dog Cottage. He remembered  my momma, as she is the treat lady...[momma is a well known treat giver, I mean the woman stuffs her pockets with liver treats and turkey jerky... how can you ignore her???]

Anyway, MAX decided to play it cool. For about 3 minutes. He was just not sure as to what was going on. The Dowi, on the other paw, had earlier resolved to use her logical legal mind to assess the situation, but one minute after meeting Max, her heart took over and logic went out the window. [This is why we have auntie Robin. She is the string that tethers logic to the whole process]

So... as Max and Dowi stared at each other, Dowi brought out the red crab she had gotten for MAX.
We all know that Max is into red stuffies, and what better toy that a red crab!
And as soon as Max got the crab, he understood that something special was going on.

And within minutes, it was clear! Max said it himself!

So... Dowi is my sister, two legged and all, I love her anyway, and Max who is now known as Max B Goldstein, the B stands for Bialystock is now my... NEPHEW?????  I am an ant! AUNT! Dang!  Do I get a new outfit or something for this?

Well Max, just realize that the Dowi belongs to me.  I am now putting you in charge of her while you are in DC, but when you are here, she is mine.  Got that?

Welcome the fan damily!

Thoughtless Thursday: Kitchen supervisor AT WORK

I am the QC dog.  Quality Control. You heard of "Prepared under Rabbinical Supervision?"  Well I am the canine equivalent to that.  I am quietly observing, noting everything and ready to jump in if things look  out of control.

It is a difficult job.  One cannot fall asleep.  Must stay awake and must have a mouth that is ready, willing and able to taste test at a moment's notice.  And some thing you really do not want to taste.

I am no tofu fan, know what I mean?

But if you want me to sample the chopped livah... What's there to think about? Nothing. I am here.

Oreo Pup!!

I'm SO excited my friends over at Kol's Notes told me about a goodie contest for a dehydrator.  I told mama to get busy and make something really tummy yummy.  So after many many tries mama came up with these yummy goodies that can be made directly in the dehydrator....frees the oven so mama can make even more goodies!

Oreo Pup

  • Ingredients
    • 1 Tbsp water
    • 1/4 cup carob powder
    • 1/4 cup coconut oil
    • 1 Tbsp honey
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
    • 1/2 tsp mint extract
    • 1/2 cup coconut flour
  • Directions
    • Mix the coconut oil, honey, mint and vanilla together
    • Add the carob and coconut flour
    • Slowly add the water a little at a time.
    • You can chill if you want.
    • Make small balls and flatten
    • Place on the dehydrator trays
    • Set to 160 and let run 5-16 hours depending on how crunchy you want.
Now I have spied mama sampling these so you need to watch the humans cause these are super yummy.  Mama has also used doggy safe frosting and made little sandwiches out of these.

115 VOTES     The third most popular entry

Dehydrated Blueberry Pancakes
1 1/3 cups of oat flour
2/3 cup millet flour
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup plus a tiny bit more of water
Coconut oil for the pan
Blueberries to your liking

Mix the flours and egg together.  Add the cup of water to the flours and mix well.  If need be add more water until you get a good consistency for pancakes.

Put a small amount of coconut oil in  a frying pan and add batter to the pancake size of your liking.  Drop your blueberries into the pancake.  Cook until lightly brown on one side and then flip and cook the other side until lightly brown or until the pancake is no longer wet in the center.

I put the pancakes in the refrigerator until I had some time to dehydrate them.

Since I don’t have a dehydrator, I put my oven on the lowest setting which was 170 degrees.

I set my cooling rack on a backing sheet and using my pizza cutter, cut the pancake into bite sized bits.
The pizza cutter was amazing for cutting these bad boys.
The pizza cutter was amazing for cutting these bad boys.
They're not uniform in size, but who cares?
They’re not uniform in size, but who cares?
I place the cookie sheet with the cooling rack on it in the oven and baked them for about 2 hours and 40 minutes.   I was planning on three hours, but when I checked them, they were dry and crisp.

Now, get cooking!!!! You have the recipes!

Orphan Kitten Saved By Retired Guard Dog

lovemeow.com - A tiny calico kitten was saved and adopted by a retired guard dog. Now Lily the dog guards and protects her little kitten.
"I heard a loud funny noise as we entered the park and I thought it was a bird. We walked Lily and on the way out I decided to investigate the noise that was still quite loud thinking it could be an injured bird," said Lorrie R. via Kitty Army.

FROM THE FDA: Keep Lilies Away From Your Cats

Keep Lilies Away From Your Cats

Cats and lilies
The white, trumpet-shaped Easter lily symbolizes Easter and spring for many people, and is a popular decoration in homes at this time of year.
If you have cats, however, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) wants to remind you that these particular flowers, as well as Tiger, Asiatic, Day, and Japanese Show lilies, are a safety threat to your feline friends.
Eating small amounts of plants or grass may be normal for cats. But the entire lily plant (leaf, pollen,
and flower) is poisonous to them, according to Melanie McLean, a veterinarian at FDA. Even if they just eat a couple of leaves or lick a few pollen grains off their fur, cats can suffer acute kidney failure within a very short period of time.
McLean says that if your cat has eaten part of a lily, the first thing you’ll see is vomiting soon afterwards. That may gradually lessen over two to four hours. Within 12 to 24 hours, the cat may start to urinate frequently. Then, if kidney failure sets in, the cat will stop urinating because the kidneys stop being able to produce urine. Untreated, she says, a cat will die within four to seven days of eating a lily.Young cats typically have healthy kidneys, so when a young cat shows signs of acute kidney damage, consumption of a toxic substance is one of the first things veterinarians investigate, McLean says.
Early veterinary treatment is critical. McLean says that even if you just suspect that your cat has eaten a lily, you should call your veterinarian immediately or, if the office is closed, take your cat to an emergency veterinary clinic. The vet may induce vomiting if the cat just ate the lily, and will give the cat intravenous fluids to prevent dehydration and preserve kidney function.
Other lilies, like Calla and Peace lilies, don’t cause fatal kidney failure, but they can irritate your cat’s mouth and esophagus. Lilies of the Valley are toxic to the heart, causing an abnormal heart rhythm. If you think your cat has eaten any type of lily, contact your veterinarian.
Lilies are not a great danger to dogs, McLean says. Dogs may have some gastrointestinal issues if they eat a lily, but nothing considered life-threatening.
Does this mean that you can’t have lilies in your home if you have a cat? Although it’s best not to have them in your home, if you want to enjoy these pretty spring flowers, McLean says to be sure to keep the plant someplace that your high-jumping pet can’t reach.
This article appears on FDA's Consumer Updates page, which features the latest on all FDA-regulated products.
