Happy dance! Everybody join in!!!

Mason went home, to his new forever home! Congrats you cutie pie, can't wait to meet your new momma. I hear you have already been training her. Smiling. I do that you know. I am smiling because I hear you played just right. But, once you steal a two legged's heart, you take on a big responsibility. You have to be a loving, gentle, loyal, sweet keeper of your two legged. Hope to see you at the bash, I need to meet this new momma.

OMD That was sooooo funny!!!!!!

So, I had left, by accident of course...ok ok , maybe I buried it... my squeaky peggy piggy between the cushions in the couch. Momma sat down and jumped thirty feet in the air... [3 inches ok]  because peggy piggy squealed like she was going to become sausage patties. I am still laughing.

Fine. You had to be there.

I am glad I was...

Too bad you missed it.

Daddy

Daddy, I accidentally overheard the conversation between you and momma last night.  [accidentally- because it is hard not to hear when you sit inches away from the receiver as you put yourself  in momma's face sort of speak].  I feel I must say something. I need to reserve a chunk of your time for "US", you and me.  Momma the daddy hog, thinks she is entitled to call dibs on you like you were the last piece of toast. I, on the other hand, love you too much and respect you too much to treat you that way. So, I am asking for an appointment with you, at your convenience, for us to spend quality time, alone. No momma, no Wendy, no JD. Just us. At your convenience, of course.  Unlike the Wendy aka Bertha Butt, who just parks herself on you, I am simply arranging a time at your discretion so that I can avail my belly to you, because it's needs a good daddy rub. And unlike JD who thinks male bonding trumps everything,  my gesture is totally unselfish. I bet your arms are aching to hold the girl who loves you the most. Of course, we have to practice discretion. I can't be your only child in front of The Wendy and JD. And I can't be your best girl in front of that woman momma. [Green is not her color]. I would never want to complicate your life like that.
I just want to point out one tiny fact. I am younger than all of them.  I have had much less time with you than they have had. They should be noble about it and step aside, but nooooooooooooooo.

So, I will sacrifice all my needs and just wait for you and I will be content with whatever time you make available to me, so long as I get your undivided attention.because I am unselfish that way.

I love you daddy, and I am thrilled you are coming home! Daddy, can you and I get a license? I want one like the one momma keeps talking about when she says she holds "the license" on you.

On the road to Normal

Normal is not a place. Normal is not way. Normal is not a recipe. Normal is not a direction.
BUT,  normal is what we all want for our day to day life. While the downside of normal is boredom and yes even germs die of boredom [Momma's doctor said so] normal is desirable.

So what is normal?

Let me show you normal at my house, follow me. I am pretty.

Momma is obsessed with leaves. She gathers them and bags them... and more fall down.
Hey why do you think it's called "FALL"?

To pick or not to pick, that is the question. Do we beat the squirrel?

Chicken and herbs... mhhh smells yummy!

The start of soup.

Chicken and turkey jerky in the making

Some dogs know how to relax.

And some of us know how to POSE!

And now you see NORMAL at my house. The Wendy?  Ahh hiding. that's her normal.

Know what else is normal? The sound of Hagador... momma's dough mixer. :)  Normal, without the crying of anyone in pain [JD] or anyone falling asleep in her cereal [momma]... NORMAL.
I love normal

dear Ms Shannon Tweed

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcsa4AZEUMo&sns=em

Congrats on the nuptials. He is one lucky dude. And what you are doing for the shelter four leggeds is sooooo classy!

Ms Shannon confided to fans via Twitter, that in lieu of wedding gifts she has asked for donations to three worthy charities: Kiva, a non-profit striving to empower people throughout the world through small loans; Pink Lotus Breast Center, a Beverly Hills organization which is active in the battle against breast cancer; and the Saskatoon SPCA, an organization which has helped homeless pets since its founding in 1957.

Ms Shannon has been supportive of the SPCA since July 2011 when she donated ten thousand dollars toward the continued care of the four leggeds at the facility when she found a furry family member for her nephew at the Saskatoon site.

If you feel like participating in the nuptial celebration you can make a donation here:
visit www.saskatoonspca.com or you can go local and you can support your local shelter or rescue, like...Tidewater Bichon Frise Rescue!

Congrats Ms Shannon, pre-nup him, you know...what's mine is mine, what's yours is mine, what's ours is mine....

JD drama and tired momma

JD has been broken for about a week or so. Apparently he did something to his back which caused him to have big pain. Big enough that he would bark loudly at momma to make it stop. This would set off a whole chain reaction of unpleasant events. Momma would jump up and run for medication, which JD would desperately try (and often succeed) to spit out. More bark-screaming would follow, momma would try comforting JD who did not want comforting, all he wanted was for the pain to stop. After the cycle played out momma would end up in tears, JD would end up asleep (meds finally would kick in). By then, momma would be emotionally fried and unable to sleep. Dr K witnessed one of JD's episodes and he said he had never seen anything like it in 34 yrs of practice. I am not shocked. That boy is a major drama queen king. Anyway, the real victims in all of this, have been the Wendy and myself. No walks, no blitzing around JD, no adventures at the beach...blah blah all because his highness had something wrong. They even took pictures of JD's insides. Ick. His insides are black and white and "transparent" and the pictures were life-size...so, huge... I am absolutely sure that if they took pics of my insides, they would see pink, lilac and sparkly, not gray and black.

I digress. The last six days have been unpleasant. Momma's frustration made her irritable. Keep in mind that she is still broken and she is still dipping into the pill box five times a day. Apparently her virus feeds on stress. You know, I think I saw something like that on Star Trek... Anyway with everything that is going on here, I pictured momma's virus to look like Jabba the Hutt and saying: "There will be no bargain, woman. I shall enjoy watching you die." of course we were all worried. There was talk about taking JD to NC for some sort of look see at a veterinary school... There was talk about surgical options... burr. But auntie Janet gave momma a name and told her to take JD there. Yesterday, momma and JD went. We were left at home. ( can you say....grateful?) to make a long story short, that tyrant came back all perky. I have no idea what was done, but yesterday afternoon... momma took a 3 hour nap and JD took a 4 hour nap... last night we went to bed at 10 [I know...the excitement is killing me...] and... nobody woke up until this morning. Can you believe it? And they all woke up with smiles and breakfast did not involve tears.  Wow. In fact, Mr. JD hopped on his  chair on his own!

All I can say is, momma needs to find a human vet , doctor, that's it a doctor that can do for her what the vet did for JD.  Oh and JD... this morning ran outside. Yea, ran.  Mr. carry me, ran like a maniac, tail up and did a whole yard tour. Something he has not done in more than a week.  Momma said that if nothing changes, we are going for a walk!  Yippeeeeeeee. I have been wanting a walk for ever and one day.

I do have to say, we all know momma to be a hard core disbeliever. The woman just has a very hard time extending faith in anything or anyone. This event might have changed that. Ohhhhh I just heard her talking to daddy... JD's vet gave her a couple of names of doctors who can do the same type of medicine on her.... YESSSSSSS... go momma, just go.  What have you got to lose? Personally I think I should go see JD's new vet and get myself an adjustment. Maybe my tail would finally be in focus.

Well, I am going to look over the news, and get ready for my walk!!!!

Little People

Oh my.... oh my... I guess I do owe momma some sort of apology....What you see in the picture are indeed "little people"...THE little people Adam carried in his pockets as a very young child.

OK momma, I am sorry I made fun of you. Kind of.  A little. But you must admit it was entirely reasonable to assume you were off your rocker.  Out of context "little people"...might be the equivalent of gnomes and fairies.

Kisses momma. Here is a thought, even if you were completely insane and even if you believed in magic beans and love potions and such,  I WOULD LOVE YOU JUST THE SAME WAY I LOVE YOU NOW. UNCONDITIONALLY. Now, how is that for a reality that will never change?

Pretty awsome reality, I say.

ADAM!

My human [sorry bro, but you are a human...2 legged and all- like I said, sorry] has a birthday today. I have no idea, but way past 7 I am sure. Once they start adding digits, it sort of loses all meaning to me.

Adam. momma was all misty about your birthday. She said you were my size once. [We really need to start titrating her meds down...I smiled and nodded to her, but no way you were my size, ever! I am only telling you what she said because I thought you could use a laugh.

BTW, you and Dowi do realize that the woman talks to us about you all the time, right?

In fact, if you ever want to know what momma is thinking about you or Dowi at any given point, you should ask me or JD or Dowi. {Wait to ask JD until he is better. He is on the same drugs momma is taking and until that is over... it's like talking to a puffy cloud. I do hope they fix that boy soon! Momma won't even allow me to nip tease him...}

OMD I can't stop laughing!
Anyway, back to you. This morning, "Misty Momma, sniffle sniffle" [yes you can use the nickname] was going on and on and on about you. She told us you had gorgeous golden curls [hahahahahaha... I tell you.... titrate the meds ...or tape record this stuff for a stand up comedy routine...]and you carried little people in your pocket. [I swear she said that.... OMD, my belly hurts from laughing] little people hahahahahahaha... She said she used to carry you in a back pack. I swear she said that. She carried you, hahahahahaha.... I almost want one of those pills just to see what I could come up with... Wendy just sat there with her mouth open listening in complete shock. Then she quietly asked me if momma is now mental and if we had to go back to rescue... Poor Wendy. Always scared. I told her, momma is drugged, not crazy, or at least not crazy enough to be called mental. Yet. No, don't worry I kept the "yet" to myself. Momma also said that she was so proud of you and of the man you have become. Insert the Mistly Momma, sniffle sniffle -here-. She said that you have accomplished goals this year that most people chase for a life time.
I do believe she is as proud of you as she is of my tail.

I saved the best for last. She pulled out a picture and said that it was you.I do believe our momma is having an episode...Don't worry, I am on top of this. I will ground her into reality with a giftie in the pee pad. You are welcome.

I know that it is my job to keep her on an even tilt and you guys don't have to worry.  Happy birthday bro. Let those little people out of your pockets!!!! hahahahahahahaha

She told us you always liked snow. For realsie! She told us you had a red wagon. I wish that part was true. I love wagon rides. Boy, momma got really misty  and sniffly when she talked about watching you grow up.

What are we going to do with her? You do know she has your baby blanket, right?

Well when you come home, I think she should bake you a cake- Something that I can share. You know, healthy [she is on this diet kick.... and we are all being subjected to calorie count... fat count... blah blah blah...]

All my love, kisses, wags, licks and nosie snorts to you, love,  'vie

Dieting dog's delight or 3 Ds as we call them

A fat free cookie that satisfies the calories police and...the eater!

Ingredients:

1 medium ripe banana
1 cup shredded carrots (see note below)
1/4 cup applesauce, unsweetened
1/8 cup water (you may need to add an additional 1/8 cup water)
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup dry blueberries
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup rolled oats
Additional flour for Rolling

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350° F
Mash the ripe banana in a small bowl.
Soak the blueberries in water and vanilla.
Grate the carrots, and mix with the banana.
Then pour in the applesauce and the blueberries soaked in the vanilla and water. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour and oats.
Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the carrot mixture.
Stir until thoroughly combined.

Knead the dough in the bowl with your hands.
Fold out onto a floured surface and continue to knead until a dough has formed.
Roll out to 1/2 inch thickness. We use guide rings on a rolling pin for perfect thickness.

Cut out into 3 inch pieces (I used a carrot shaped cookie cutter).
Lightly spray a baking sheet with non-stick spray.
Place the cut-outs on the baking sheet and bake for 25 minutes.

Let them cool completely on a wire rack.
Storing - These treats will be fresh in the refrigerator for 3 weeks. Keep them in the freezer for up to 6 months.

My two legged loves these. We have caught her eating them. So, if you want to make sure you get your fair share...make your two legged double the recipe.

Yield - Using a 3 inch cookie cutter, you'll get 24 biscuits.

Tips & Techniques

Shredded Carrots we like a very fine shred, food process unpeeled, washed carrots

Crunchy - Leave them in the oven overnight, after it's turned off, and you'll bake up a sweet and crisp homemade dog treat.

vote DOWI

It is very important to support your 2leggeds, even when they do weird things. Dowi does weird things ALL THE TIME. Her latest weird thing is competitive skeeball. (I'm not totally sure what that is, but somebody told me that you can win presents. I like presents.)

Anyway, Dowi is trying to win the spirit competition and she needs votes to do it. Unlike the unfair political system, 4leggeds can vote. I love it. Dowi for president! Or spirited! Give me a chewy! Or whatever!

You can vote by liking united social sports on Facebook and then liking her team's picture. I'm pretty sure that i get presents if she wins. Ahem. Right, dowi?

FDA Warns of Possible Danger with Animal Vaccine Device

FDA Warns of Possible Danger with Animal Vaccine Device

September 2, 2011
The Food and Drug Administration is warning veterinarians and pet owners, particularly cat owners, of the possible risk of fractures with the Vet Jet™ transdermal vaccination system device. The device, made by Bioject, Inc., is sold exclusively as the delivery system for the Merial product, PUREVAX® Recombinant Feline Leukemia Vaccine. The device delivers the leukemia vaccine through the skin to cats.
FDA is aware of three recent adverse event reports involving the use of the Vet Jet™ device in kittens. In two of the cases, the user failed or may have failed to properly lock the nozzle into the device before using it. The nozzle subsequently dislodged at the time of vaccination, causing a fracture of the femur (the thigh bone).
Merial is fully investigating the three cases. The company is also revising the “Instructions for Use” for the Vet Jet™ device to stress that users need to securely lock the nozzle into the device. In addition, Merial is sending a letter to all Vet Jet™ device users urging them to carefully follow the nozzle locking procedure.
FDA asks veterinarians and pet owners who want to report problems with the Vet Jet™ device to first contact Merial. They can also report problems to FDA by submitting FORM FDA 1932a.
