the nightmare RIDE

It started out like an ordinary ride. A little slow, mostly because JD decided that the back fence was way too important to leave. Eventually, he joined us and off we went.

The first two stops were typical. The bank where I get treats, yes... that's why it is a bank. They bank treats! But you only get one or two when you go there. We must have a lot of treats deposited there because as far as I can remember they always let us take some out. Back to the story.

Second stop-nothing special. Momma said the car was thirsty so we went to get the car her drink. Smelly place and smelly drink and honestly, that car drinks all the time. And then things got weird.

Momma fed her plastic into the machine and waited until she got her numbers. I thought she was buying lottery tickets. But noooooo. She got some stupid set of numbers which she typed into another machine. Apparently that was not the right thing to do. Suddenly the whole garage {???} got mad. It moved this giant iron arm on top of our car and spit out foam. It was horrible. You could not see anything, it was noisy and the car felt like it was under attack... 'cause it was being attacked! Front to back to front!

I am not ashamed to tell you that, after sizing up the situation, realizing that I am a small 4 legged, I jumped into momma's arms and while shaking a little, I tried very hard to get her to move the car out of there! And this you are not going to believe. There was a red traffic light that basically kept us stopped there while the car was attacked over and over with different liquids. Water, some sort of multi colored goo, more water... It was awful and it lasted for ever! Suddenly the angry spitter stopped and started blowing air. I now know how those 3 little pigs felt! By then the Wendy and I were practically ... hysterical. Suddenly, by some miracle, the red light turned green and momma moved the car out of the angry garage! Even now my little heart is beating fast. I think I shook all the curls out of my beautiful coat.

I have to paw it to momma, though, she stayed very calm and actually reassured us over and over that everything was going to be fine. Well, I hated the ride. I don't ever want to go back to the angry garage. I have no idea what momma did wrong, but that was an over reaction by a stupid machine and what a waste of water!

Anyway, I am now so tired I just want to relax and nap. Maybe my curls will come back.
Oh, if you see the words KAR wash- HIDE!!!! It is the angry spitter garage.

Mixing IT up

Good morning world.

I talked my Wendy into going outside with me to play. There is a tiny bit of sun out and it is
breezy, but I want to play. Generally
Miss Wendy is reluctant to do anything out of our normal routine.
You know, wake up, go outside, have breakfast, walk, nap and then play.

Well, we just woke up, we have gone outside and I want to play. Mix it up a bit! You know what momma says?
"Boredom will kill anything, including germs", so, I am trying to avoid boredom!

But do you think Wendy gets it?
No. She is forever wanting to stick to the routine.

Do you see how hard I was trying to engage her? I did everything! From the nipping to the kissing, to the nose pushing. Nada. That girl is sooooo stubborn.

I even tried the old chase me approach.
Like I said...STUBBORN!

And then....
then , momma opens the door and tells us it is time to come in and have breakfast!

Drat! I almost had The Wendy convinced to play! I give up.
Yes, that's my "Are you kidding me?" face.





They leave no room for spontaneity or creativity around here! They are stifling me! Hard to soar like an eagle when you are surrounded by turkeys...

HELP find CinnaBUN

Mechanic extraordinaire (and Sandra Bullock's husband) Jesse James is asking for your help, as his pit bull 'CinnaBun' has gone missing. James, who calls his canine pal "our shop dog & pet," says that CinnaBun (pictured on the right) has been missing for nearly two days now.

"She has been missing since 2pm yesterday," James said in a posting accompanied by a photo of CinnaBun on Twitter. "If you find her plz call 562-983-6666."

James and Bullock have a reputation for loving dogs, and also preach the benefits of rescue pets.

The kitchen SUPERVISOR- KS extraordinaire

High from his perch, the kitchen supervisor takes his job seriously. Watching, taking stock, ever present and always keeping the final product in mind. QC folks... it is all about quality control!

Are the egg rolls even? Is there enough of them? Does the filling look right? Is there enough ginger, but not too much?
It is an endless job.

One that requires constant vigilance and patience. An occasional throat clearing brings the cook back to the reality of the moment. Her distractions...gone. All under the gentle guidance of the KS.

His knowledge developed over years of watching, learning, internalizing. He knows all the secrets. The pumpkin gnocchi with gorgonzola? He knows when there is not enough cheese.
He watches, making sure not too much semolina is added. He loves gnocchi when it is light, delicate, unlike the supermarket bullets they pass for gnocchi... He remains vigilant as she rolls them.

Gnocco after gnocco... the gnocchi are almost done...

Wait- The KS looks over the stove. That smell... Hey... The olive bread and sun dried tomato bread are done. She notices his nose twitching she checks. He is right! 32 seconds left on the timer. As if he needs a timer!

Beautiful! You did make some plain bread for the KS, right?? Ingrate! Oh OK, gnocchi will do as payment.

The job of a KS is never done because quality control is NO accident!

Dealing with life:

Canned, plain pumpkin is the one item to add to your pantry now. Seasonal allergies are giving many 4leggeds a "run" or two. [ hahahaha I crack me up!- get it? a run?] Well nothing soothes the tummy and equalizes like pumpkin. One or two tablespoons added in our food soothes the tummy and stops both constipation and its opposite.


A Marshall cord protector is a absolute must in a household with a chewing 4legged. [Not that I know anything about that... 'cept for that , ok those two... OK OK OK three charger cords I accidentally... chewed up-- jeeeeez I was just a puppy then!!!!] too bad they don't have a sheet or pillow corner protector. I am sure momma would buy those in a blink.


Did you know that VINEGAR is still the best product to clean up after an accident?

PetSmart encourages customers to bring their pets to the store when they shop. But when it comes to employees' pets? Not so much.

PetSmart gave New Jersey resident Eric Favetta the axe after he brought his 3-year-old Belgian malinois, Gizmo, to work with him one night, the (Newark) Star-Ledger reported.

According to the Star-Ledger, Favetta, a former dog handler at military units in Afghanistan and Bahrain, had worked as an operations manager at PetSmart since July 2008. Last spring, because of his success cleaning up the Wayne, N.J., store, he was transferred to the busy Seacaucus, N.J., store to help make improvements.

One night in December, PetSmart staff asked Favetta to work a special overnight shift to get the store spiffed up for a viewing the following day by potential business partners. "I brought my dog with me because I knew if I didn't, he would have been home alone all day and all night until I returned home at 6 a.m. the next day," Favetta told the Star-Ledger.

Favetta put Gizmo in the store's empty daycare facility and got to work. Two weeks later, he was fired for "theft of service."

PetSmart spokeswoman Jessica White told the Star-Ledger that the daycare service is an item the company charges for, just like the toys and treats on the store shelves. Using the facilities for free, she said, qualified as theft.

But Favetta, who had a spotless record, was shocked. He believed it was an excuse to get rid of him, since he butted heads with his manager. "It makes me sick that because I brought my dog to work with me when the store was closed to do the company a favor, I was called a thief and terminated," he told the Star-Ledger.

The day after the Star-Ledger started asking questions, PetSmart's human resources director called Favetta to discuss the story, the newspaper reported. Two days later, she offered Favetta his job back. He accepted, but soon after was offered a job as a dog handler for a company that uses dogs to sniff out hazards. He decided to place his bets with the new company rather than return to PetSmart.

Sounds like a happy ending to us.

Happy anniversary WENDY!!!
Four years ago, Miss Wendy came into out lives. Boy what a day that was. As scared as you were Wendy, momma was even more scared and worried about you. How to make you feel comfortable, happy, relaxed, loved, safe, and at home. Sort of like now. :) Just joking.

The first few days were really rough. You were on hyper alert. Every noise, every move, everything scared you.
You really did not want to play with JD, and all you wanted was to be held by uncle Phil. {Why him anyway???} And then you slowly discovered momma's belly rubs. Daddy's snuggles. Dori's play time and Adam's kissy face game.

Today, you are a happy little girl with moments of melancholy not a sad melancholic girl 100% of the time.

The first time your tail went up and wagged, momma cried! Well it was almost 3 weeks after you came to us... a loooooong time!

You are a play machine when I get you going. And... you are a belly rub hog every night, and a chicken fresser and...lately.. you have been picking up stuffies to play with! You love going out and you love shopping carts and most of all, now you let ladies pet you. That's incredible, considering how you felt about women four years ago!

Momma says that what was done to you was unforgivable, but that moving forward means put the past in the past burying it under layers and layers of wonderful happy memories that we build each day. :)

Wendy you are so loved, by everyone. I love you the most because you have been my momma, my big sis, my best friend and my play mate. Now, let's play!!!!

Oh yes, JD says happy anniversary too!
